How does tutoring work?

Tutoring is done 1-on-1 remotely, due to Covid-19. Students will interact with the tutor via Zoom or Skype.

What can I get help with?

A variety of subjects are on offer. They include but are not limited to: Math grades K-8, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, PSAT, SAT Math 1&2, ACT, Astronomy, Photography as well as unique offerings of Advanced Math Enrichment (an exploration of advanced mathematical concepts never taught in schools suitable for any age) and Math in Art (exploring the unique and underreported aspects of mathematics that permeate all forms of art. 

How do I get a tutor?

Simple! Just send an E-mail from the form on the Homepage or from the Contact page. You will be contacted as soon as possible.

How many sessions should I have?

The total number of tutoring sessions that are needed depends on each individual student. Most students find that having sessions for the whole year to be of the most benefit. However, 4 is the minimum number of recommended sessions for all students in order to allow the effects time to manifest. The minimum for test prep is 6 sessions.  

What is the minimum time to work with a tutor?

Each session is scheduled to be an hour long. It is recommended that there be at least one session a week and it is also recommend that there be a minimum of 4 sessions for regular mathematics and a minimum of 6 sessions for test prep.  

Can my child get help anytime or just during scheduled sessions?

Absolutely they can get help at other times. Parents or students need only to text or email questions and they will be gotten back to as soon as possible. It is very common for students to text pictures of their homework and receive back a detailed solution annotated with instructions and explanations.
